LM10 Thermocouple Current Loop Transmitter

Current loop transmitter is the term associated with sensor system that is used in industrial 4-20mA current loop technology. This transmitter contain the signal conditioning circuit for the sensor (chromel-alumel thermocouple), and a current regulator to maintain the current  loop to  consistently represents the sensor reading. Here is the schematic diagram of the circuit: When dealing with thermocouple, the feature […]

UHF Doppler Motion Detector

The UHF motion detector below operates on the Doppler radar principle. A radial signal is created by the oscillator (Q1). Some of this energy is reflected back to the generator by an object in the radiated field. The reflected signal will have a different frequency because of Doppler shift if the object is moving. Q1 is an oscillator coupled to […]

LTC1045 TTL RS-232 Converter

A simple way to build a battery-powered RS-232 receiver  circuit is shown on the following schematic diagram. This circuit convert RS232 level to TTL level. Because the 100 KΩ resistor prevents device damage, the input voltage can be driven as much as +- 30V without adverse effects. The LTC1045 draws only 100 μA of quiescent current, and has a propagation delay […]

FET Hydrophone Pre-Amplifier

Unwanted noise is eliminated by FET. FET also added capacitance caused by long cobias connecting hydrophone to shore station. Voltage gain is unity. Hydrophone preamp can be used with cables up to 3000 feet long. Use 1 Meg resistor between gate and ground to suppress low frequency excursions of signals if hydrophone moves in water.
